Designed in the wilds of Africa to protect you - and styled with options to please you - the Frontier Ultimate Safari Hat is the culmination of years of field-testing and sampling. Our mission was simple: make the best travel & outdoor hat possible - and we think we have done just that. The Frontier is without doubt the best sun hat for your next foray into the outdoors. Packed with features - as listed below - you are able to style your own hat by either wearing the brim flat or clipped up on either or both sides. We designed the hat to look amazing with and without the leather plaited braid, which you simply clip on and off the Frontier as you see fit. We also stock a selection of clip-on leather braids to allow you to also choose the colour of braid you wish to use on your hat (sold separately). The first field test for the hat was -fittingly - a five week barebones safari in Tanzania where our testing team fell in love with the Frontier while exploring the vastly different conditions found in each area they camped in: the Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire, Manyara, Ruaha, and Nyerere. This hat is made for your next adventure to just about anywhere where the sun shines on this lovely planet of ours.

Allow 1cm variance for all garment measurements (as an example a 56cm garment measurement has a variance of 55-57cm. Please factor that into deciding on the size to order.)

The designs of all Rufiji™ and Mara&Meru™ hats include an adjustable drawstring to ensure you are always able to get the best fit simply by adjusting the drawstring. This makes ordering the right size that much easier.

How to order the correct size Rufiji™ or Mara&Meru™ hat:

• To work out which hat will give you the most comfortable fit, simply measure your head at the fullest part where your hat will sit, which will be just above your ears. Please use this measurement to determine the size above. It is best to select a hat size which has an Inner Crown measurement slightly larger than your head size.
• Please note that only our leather hats will have a very small amount of stretch (approximately 1cm).
• As children's heads grow faster than their bodies, this size chart also applies to boys and girls.
• UK and US hat sizes given below are our approximates of the equivalent hat size in each country. Please leave the size chart in "cm" rather than "inches" to view these correctly.

Features:
⊙ Light in weight, yet strong by construction. S/M weighs 190g (6.7 oz); L/XL weighs: 220g (7.8 oz); XXL weighs: 240g (8.5 oz).
⊙ 360-degree, wide brim. Brim measures 8cm (3.15") for all sizes from outer edge to bottom of crown.
⊙ Mesh crown with snap buttons to allow you to wear the brim up if you choose to - simply flip and clip.
⊙ Eyelets on the side of the crown with brass grommets for added ventilation.
⊙ Crown heights are: S/M 11cm (4.3"); L/XL 11.5cm (4.5"); XXL 12cm (4.7").
⊙ Made from durable 12oz safari-grade cotton canvas.
⊙ Water repellent finish is applied to the canvas fabric.
⊙ Flat-packable foam brim construction which adds an element of flotation too the hat

⊙ UPF50+ protection as proven in an independent test by Intertek. Applies to the top of the hat, brim, and forehead canvas flap (excludes the mesh). In the tests, Intertek found that the 'Mean Ultraviolet Protection Factor UPF' score for the hat came to 2,000; and the blocking percentage for the hat is 99.95% for both UV-A and UV-B. This exceeds the 98% threshold for UPF50 and so the rating for this hat is UPF50+. Please always back up the sun protection provided by your hat by using an effective sunscreen lotion or spray.
⊙ Made and styled for men, women - and for older children too. Please use the size chart to determine the size to order for the best fit.
⊙ Packing advice: the Frontier hat is made to be flat-packable, and this is how we pack the hat when we travel. Place the hat flat into your luggage and make sure that the brim stays as flat as possible. The crown and mesh sides are packed level with the brim. It is very important that no items crush the brim, nor the crown. Note that the mesh may crease and if this is an issue for you then it is better to travel and carry your hat; or opt for a hat without the mesh sides - such as the Adventurer (some creasing of the fabric may still happen with the Adventurer). While it is up to your personal preference, when we travel with the Frontier we do not mind if the mesh creases as over time this creasing reduces as you wear the hat, and the main purpose of the hat is after all to protect you from the sun, with flat-packing adding to the convenience of travelling with this hat.
⊙ Cleaning instructions: Gently spot clean with water only - under 30°C.
